What is Psoriasis? Let me Break it Down for You

I was ten years old when I first developed Guttate Psoriasis.  I had had a nasty case of Strep Throat, and then, BAM… a few weeks later I wake up covered in angry, red teardrop-shaped welts.

My parents and I hauled you-know-what to the doctor who took one look at me and told me I had Guttate Psoriasis.

is psoriasis contagious?

One thing I Can Clear up:  Psoriasis is NOT Contagious

One of the most painful things about having Psoriasis – you know, besides the actual physical stuff  – is the way people treat you when they see your skin.
Even my closest friends can’t disguise their shock when they see my Psoriasis for the first time.  Sure, they try to cover it up with mild indifference, but I see the horror flicker across their face even if it’s only for a split second.

Take a Picture.  It’ll Last Longer: Psoriasis images on the Internet
When you’re freaking out about something on your body – whether it’s an unexpected patch of hair growing near your left nipple (not that I would know about such things) or a mole that’s taken on a life of its own, one of your first instincts is to see if anyone else has something similar.
With the internet, it’s really easy to see what else is out there.  And, as it turns out, there are a lot of people looking up photos of Psoriasis on the internet.
