Take a Picture. It’ll Last Longer: Psoriasis images on the Internet
When you’re freaking out about something on your body – whether it’s an unexpected patch of hair growing near your left nipple (not that I would know about such things) or a mole that’s taken on a life of its own, one of your first instincts is to see if anyone else has something similar. With the internet, it’s really easy to see what else is out there. And, as it turns out, there are a lot of people looking up photos of Psoriasis on the internet.
(DISCLAIMER: Given that it’s really convenient to self-diagnose on Google, if you’re looking up Psoriasis pictures because you have a gnarly rash on your legs and you want to know what the heck is happening to your skin, take heed: Looking up images of Psoriasis on Google is not the same as going to a doctor and getting a real diagnosis.)
Still, I know that I’ve consulted Google Images many times to compare my Guttate Psoriasis with all of the pictures of Psoriasis on the internet.
Sometimes, it’s interesting to see that there are a lot of different ways that Psoriasis can manifest. After looking at a slew of Psoriasis photos, I can tell you that no two cases are alike. Even Guttate Psoriasis images differ – some people have three or four large lesions while others (ahem ahem!) have dozens.
Sometimes, it’s a good reality check to know that there are others out there who have it a lot worse.
But above all, sometimes, it’s reassuring to know you aren’t alone.
